I am the tournament chairperson for my golf league. I am looking for some new formats to make our league day fun. I already know the traditional ideas, I am looking for new creative ideas.
Here are couple:
Blind Doubles
Let’s say there are 4 people playing in a group. Scorecards will be traded so no one is keeping their own score. Individuals can keep their own score for accuracy if they want. At the end of the game, names of all of the players are placed in either a low handicap or high handicap basket and a name is drawn from each. The scores from these 2 players are added together and the team with the lowest would win.
Lowest Team Score
Again let’s say there are 4 people in a group. Individual scores are kept and the lowest score of the 4 is taken for each hole. This becomes the team score. The team with the lowest score would win.

It is not a secret to anyone that Tiger Woods is heavily associated with Nike. He has used their equipment for years now, and that is how Nike have positioned themselves to be a leading golf club manufacturer.
Nike Victory Irons have provided both professional and recreational golfers world wide with a range of iron sets to choose from. They range from Nike Victory Full Cavity Irons which are primarily suited for beginner players to Nike Victory Forged TW Blades for advanced players.
All of the Victory irons designs have been inspired by Tiger Woods. And really, what further promotion does a brand need? The greatest golfer and one of the most famous athletes in the world uses Nike, and he cannot be wrong. Everyone can see that he wins tournament after tournament using Nike gear.
Among some of the other athletes that utilise Nike, are Paul Casey and Stewart Cink.
The actual technology behind Nike Victory irons is very sound – they are made from the highest quality carbon steel, have a milled flat face that ensures that the ball takes the optimal path. Nike employ all the same techniques in their clubs as the other brands, however it is the marketing that stands out. Nike have been successful with virtually every sport that they have entered and golf is no exception.
I am just beginning to golf. I have lessons set up and although these are the first lessons I’ve taken I have golfed before and enjoyed it very much! I’m simply trying to remove bad habits, learn the correct ones, and learn enough to be able to go out on my own at least once or twice a week during the summer. I’m planning to purchase golf clubs and my main two interests are quality and appearance. I want to invest in a nice set of golf clubs that I won’t have to replace as I get better. Not a beginner’s set, nothing cheap in quality. I’m willing to spend up to $500. I’m hoping to purchase a set as a whole, and not individual clubs, and something with style. I don’t know much yet about which golf club to choose for each swing (the difference between a wood, etc.). If anyone can tell me a good set of clubs that is in my price range and is what I’m looking for that would be great. Any information on the different types of clubs would be awesome too, or even any good club brands would work. Thanks!
Hi there, great to see you’re getting into golf! I’ve golfed since I was 16, and it’s such an awesome sport. Tour Edge is a great golf brand with very reliable clubs, and I’m in love with the women’s club sets. The bags come in either blue argyle or pink argyle, they’re so pretty, and I’m a big fan of the performance of Tour Edge clubs. You can get a complete set of Tour Edge women’s clubs for about $500 at http://www.njgolfman.com/toedwomochpa.html – they’ll last you for years.
The set comes with:
- 400cc titanium driver
- Fairyway woods – 3 wood, 5 wood
- Hybrids – #5 hybrid, #6 hybrid, #7 hybrid
- Irons – 8 iron/9 iron/PW/SW
Enjoy, and happy golfing!
I like the fingerless, or half-glove golf gloves, but they seem to all have mesh on the top of the glove (top of the hand). Looking for one that is all leather. Any hints?
Wow…this one was tough. The only thing I found was this ebay action.

Your best bet is to buy Men’s Small gloves, cut the fingers off then have a seamstress hem the ends where you cut so it doesnt fray and fall apart
We are semi-private (we support our course/club with members dues and fees and some public play)….but about every couple years some womens activist group makes a fuss about us not allowing them to play on saturday mornings…they write into the local paper and get them to do a story, etc. and have some protests, etc. We just ignore them…now one group has threatened a law suit…we have many members who are lawyers who have told us they will gladly take the case for free…why don’t they go form their own womens club if they want one.
They’re retarded and have no case. I bet that if you let them play on Saturday mornings, there wouldn’t be one woman there. They don’t really want to play golf, they just don’t want men to be the only ones who can.
Looking at a New Nike 3 WOOD. I’m not a great golfer and have issues with distance. Thoughts?
Well the main difference between the women’s and mens clubs are basically just shaft stiffness (no pun intended). The shafts on mens clubs are much more stiff because they are meant for a higher swing speed, while the womens clubs have a weaker shaft because generally they do not have large swing speeds. Now, there are exceptions like always, but generally that is the biggest difference. Also, usually the womens clubs are a little bit lighter as well to increase swing speed.
Pro- You will hit the ball farther because you will get more recoil with the shaft.
Cons- You can break the shaft pretty easily if you are swing 20mph over what the shaft’s rating is.
You will lose accuracy because the shaft is so flexible that the club will struggle to stay on plane if you are swinging harder.
It is possible to dent the face of the club as they head itself will not be as strong as a men’s club because the club head for women’s clubs tries to provide a greater bounce off of it, but it is easier to dent them.
These are just some cons, the best advice i can give you comes in a question: Have you ever seen a good male golfer using a female club???
Personally, I have never seen a decent male golfer using a female club, maybe a senior flex shaft (what I would recommend if you are looking for distance) but never a female club. They are meant for females, leave them that way!
Look at a senior flex shaft, it will be much better for you in the long run.
