beginner golf set for a girl?

so i wanted to start golf this summer, and have no idea what type of clubs i need. i want to buy a set because thats what my parents are willing to buy me. I am a teenage girl, about 5 foot 7. I figured i would buy a used set of craigs list just incase i didnt like golf after i started. I found a set that i could get shipped to me, but i just wanted to make sure it was an OK beginner set. I dont no if there is a major difference btwn mens and womens sets but i think this is a mens set? thanks so much!

what makes a ladies golf club a ladies?

i found new golf clubs online and they were classified as ladies, why?

Ladies golf clubs typically have a shaft that is more flexible (add speed to the club head) and has a head that weighs less. The length of the shaft is determined by the distance from the fingertips to the floor and not due to the sex of the player. The lighter head and the shaft with more flex are designed to assist with a player that is not as strong to be able to control the club and yet generate speed to allow a good strike on the ball. A majority of senior clubs also share these characteristics.

can my 10 year old use ladies golf clubs?

My 10 year old is 5ft 1" and his hands are the same size as mine… a friend told me he can use ladies clubs sine the kids clubs are so small for him… Is this true? Or should he get mens? Thanks!
Thanks for all the replies! I guess I should have specified that I am his mom posting… :) I didn’t realize it was coming up under my hubby – so my son’s hands are as big as mine (ladies)… Thanks so much for the great advice – it has all been so helpful!! Now we are going shopping!!!! ;)

Yes, women’s will fit fine and be light and flexible enough for him to maneuver, they also make teen sets as well (which aren’t much different, but maybe a bit cheaper). Mens will be too long, heavy and stiff. He should do okay with women’s or teen’s until he’s ready to move to men’s (most-likely around age 14), depending on height and swing speed.

I bought two Womens golf clubs by Accident, but I hit realy well with them?

I’am an amateur Male golfer and I didn’t know the difference between Mens and Womens clubs (okay the color was a darker tone of pink but I didn’t think into it much). I bought a 3 wood and a 5 wood tommy armour, that I have been hitting unbelievably with. I just found out they are Womens’s clubs!! But so what right? I can drive 200 yard plus with the 3 wood off the tee. I guess i like the feel better, I’am 5’7 so I’am not a big guy. Hell they make a Driver version, same as the 3 wood and 5 wood. Maybe I should buy that too. LOL

Hey, I guess you swing both ways, then!

hit golf ball with more power for beginners?

I’m a 11 year old golfer hoping to find out how to get some more juice on my woods hybrids and driver. I averaged with my driver around 125 yards so I guess you figure I cant hit my other clubs very far. most of the time on a par 4 yardage 300 yards It would it would take me 3 shots to get up to the green or around it. If I could get my shots farther then I could seriously lower my score. I averaged mid 50s on 9 holes when ever I play at my local golf course. The golf courses yardage is 5047 off of the womens tees. Thanks for answering.

strenth and power does not matter on how far the ball goes…
your body position is the most important thing.

Should I get new Woods or Wedges?

This is my Current Set of Clubs
Driver: 09′ Women’s Burner with a "L" shaft (10.5)
3 Wood: 09′ Women’s Burner with a "L" shaft
5 Wood: 07′ Womens Burner with a "L" shaft
Hybrid: 09′ Womens Burner with a "L" shaft (24 degrees)
Irons: Mizuno MP-62 with regular lightweight steel shafts (4-PW)
Wedges: Some 15 yr. old "Yonex" wedges with lady shafts
Putter: Rife Bimini Blade Putter (recently sold my Scotty)
Ball: Titleist Pro V1

I am 14 years old, practice avidly and play five to six times a week off a 10 index. I purchased all my golfing equipment with my own money from working in the summer. I am thinking about purchasing new woods because I am striping all of my regular shafted irons but am hooking or snap hooking my driver and to a lesser extent, my 3 and 5 woods. This is kind off extreme, but When I tried my friends Cobra S91 Pro D stiff shaft I hit every drive perfectly straight. (I know a stiff shaft probably isn’t right though.)

I purchased my woods two years ago when I was too short and weak to buy mens clubs. While I am still relatively short (5’4") I can swing the club much faster than I could before. I swing my 6-iron about 78mph and my driver about 86mph. On a straight hit my 6 iron will carry about 145 and my driver will carry about 210. If I buy new woods I will either buy the Titleist D3 or the Nike Victory Red Tour (I like a smaller club-head). If I buy new wedges I will either buy Titleist or Cleavland (52, 58, and maybe 64 depending on if I keep my hybrid in the bag)

My Budget for this bag overhaul is not huge, but i did manage to collect about $1200 over the last few years. That being said, I do not want to blow all of it if I do not have to.
I forgot to mention that I also hit a regular shaft farther than a womens shaft with my woods.
Thank you everyone for your advice. I think I will switch out the wedges, but just get two of them, then I will buy a new driver. Also about the Pro-V. I have tried dozens of golf ball, but I always seem to come back to the Pro-V because I hate puring a shot and having it roll of the back. Also the course that I play at has many forced caries into greens to I need some bite. It also gives me confidence which is invaluable in this game :)

Kev from the detail contained in your question you seem to have a really good handle on things for your age and have already demonstrated that you can make learned decisions for yourself. You are probably wise to attend a club demo day at a local driving range so that u can suss out a few shaft options before you buy. As suggested in another thread upgrading your wedges say 52* 56* & 60* would be a priority as they are your scoring clubs. With the change from your budget you might shop around for a used driver with a regular shaft and 460cc head (more yardage).
Your liking for the Pro V is no doubt because you like its’ feel on your wedges, chips and putts. Titleist SoLo, Maxfli Noodle and Precept Laddie will probably go further on your full shots than the Pro V.

What is the quality of ladies rcx acuity golf clubs?

I am a beginner golfer looking at buying a set of ladies rcx acuity golf clubs for $100. I want to learn more about the brand of clubs before i make the purchase. Thanks!

$100 golf clubs are the Yugo’s of the golf industry.

Look like golf clubs, but are more like a bad joke that does the potential golfer no good other than giving them a vague idea of what a golf club looks like but play like a a piece of dog-crap on the end of a stick.

No offense, but save your money (like 5 times that much, to get some quality name-brand clubs) while re-evaluating your interest in what really isn’t a cheap game or hobby.

are these good clubs for an intermediate player?

http://www.austads.com/Adams-Womens-a7OS-14-Piece-Keri-Package-Set/10039246/Product

intermediate as in i know how to play golf, just always looking for improvement. if not these, can you suggest others, sets or single clubs

Adams makes very high quality clubs, and if you are in fact an intermadiate player as you say you are, then they’ll be great for you. Besides, buying these will save you quite a bit of money. But, in addition to these clubs, I would buy two wedges, a 54 or 56 degree and a 60 degree, that weren’t originally part of an iron set and take the sand wedge and chipper given to you in the set out of your bag. The Titleist Vokeys are always phenomenal, and the Cleveland CG15 wedges are great, too. I recommend you don’t use the wedges or the chipper in the set because they probably won’t have either the versatility or the spin that individual wedges have. Also, find a putter you like, if you don’t already have one. Have fun with your new clubs, have fun improving, and good luck.

My son and golf he is growing to fast?

My son is eight years old and loves golf. We havent been out much this year yet because he is finishing up baseball. He is already almost five feet tall and is almost out of his junior clubs. I’ve heard both ways but what would be the advantages/disadvantages of getting him hitting with a set of womens clubs? Whats the big difference? Its been suggested to buy a big set of mens and get them cut down is that a good idea or not? He is like 4’10 almost 11" his doctor said he will easily top 6’5"

The only real difference between proper men’s and women’s clubs are the shaft flex and length, as they figured out a long time ago that the head-weights needed to remain the same.
Just randomly-cutting down men’s clubs is a bad idea, it was a bad idea when I was a kid and it’s still a bad idea today as it results in all sorts of bad swing habits that are hard to cure later. Cutting down a men’s set of R-flex shaft to fit him now is commiserate to you trying to x-flex shafts in your own irons.

So, and expecially if you think your son will continue to play the game, is to buy him a name-brand set but in women’s flex shaft being as women’s clubs are shorter on average than men’s sets. This should take him until he gets to be over 5′-6," and then you can take them to a clubmaker and have them install a set of men’s regular flex shaft in them….. which should last him for years, being as someone needs to be well over 6-3 to require the use of over-length clubs.

For womens golf, if you wear a bow/ribbon in your hair does that mean you’re straight?

i’m a freshman, hoping to be a golfer at the highschool. and my father says that if you don’t wear a ribbon/bow in your hair that means you’re a lesbian. i am NOT a lesbian. but is it true???

While it does appear to be the new in-thing being done by some "girly-girls" playing golf, and some trying to add a little style or twist of their own to their wardrobe to differentiate themselves from other players – unless your father is suggesting he has some intrinsic insight into lesbian-ism, and lesbians in general, that differentiates from common knowledge as everyone else knows it, I would then suggest you ask your father what basis he is using to speak from such an experienced mind set.

While there have been some well-documented lesbian professional golfers, none of which I ever remember having worn a bow in their hair (though during the same era, seemingly, few if any of the straight ones did either), I tend to think your father is just weird or freaking out (maybe he’s scared of lesbians, LOL).

Just thinking back in recent history, the last two No.1 woman pros in the world were both straight (Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa), at least they got married to men while they were on tour and both quit the game under the auspices of pursing a heterosexual relationship and motherhood, and neither of them did the bow in the hair thing, and instead chose a common visor (with their sponsor’s logo)……hhhmmmmm

Fact remains, wearing a bow is no more going to differentiate anyone from a lesbian, or is some secret sign for being straight, any more than having a short hair-do makes a woman butch or a dyke or a lesbian.
If you want to wear a bow, go for it.
If you don’t want to wear a bow, don’t.
Either way it says little about your sexuality or sexual preferences.
