Are good golf clubs worth it?
I am 6’2, and i have ladies golf clubs which are years old and unbranded. Is it worth getting a good size and brand clubs, and should it help my performance? Thanks
There’s lots of good answers here…but so much of golf is mental. If you really feel confident in looking down @ a non branded driver, (and assuming you have some degree of skill already) then you’ll hit it well. I think though that any issues you have after the sale on non branded product will not be handled as well as with a branded product. Which that means if you crack a shaft on a department store driver, you’re going to be hosed versus doing the same with say a Callaway driver. Made in the same foundries yes….same quality of materials, no. Good luck!

NO biggest rip off ever unless your playing off scratch don’t bother just go for cheap full set and buy extra clubs by themselves like wedges when you want make sure you get a big set

All you really need to worry about is. Do you feel comfortable with them clubs?. It really doesn’t matter the make, though some will argue it does. All you are really paying for is a name. Just make sure you get clubs you feel comfortable with. Like me, I feel more comfortable with longer clubs. I don’t like being too close to the ball.. I feel I’m more accurate when I’m a little ways away.. Just do what fits you

you will probably play better with a set of clubs that fit your height. try to find a golf store that has some electronic equipment to tell you what your swing does and get clubs that compliment your swing – i think it is important to have a set of clubs where you like the look and feel of them. after that it is all your swing
the ladies clubs you have could be to short or to light for your swing
or you might be better off taking some lessons from a teaching pro

if you play everyday like i do then get new clubs. Just spent 800 bucks on a new set of taylormade irons- i think i like golf but i am not sure yet.

it’s important that the clubs fit your build and swing but it has nothing to do with price, golfsmith and golfworks both have a good selection that can be tailor made cheaply

Every reputable brand, be it the "big boys", the component brands and the clones are made in the SAME foundries in China and Tiawan. Some of those same "big boys" don’t even do their own R&D… Taylormade’s name has been floated around, and if you read between the lines of some of the things they and others say it sounds real… there’s just no concrete proof. Same goes for shafts and grips- nearly everything in golf is mass-produced, just like cars, clothes, sunglasses, etc. Do you REALLY think you’re getting something "special" by shelling out the extra bucks? Hardly.
I’ve owned 2 different Nike drivers, 3 different Callaway drivers, 2 different Adams drivers and an Acer driver… guess what? All those that were the same loft (10.5*; the Sasquatch, FT-3 and FT-9 and Acer XK… the SuMo 5000, FT-5 and both Adams were 9.5*) performed EXACTLY THE SAME.
The most important thing is to get properly fit.

i think you’ll enjoy cavity irons and the newer woods are balanced to make your shots longer and easier to control. i’d get a pro to get me fitted. you will play a lot better.
