Golf club captains – hate them !!!?

Hi ! Recently have been called up at the golf club by our lady captain to be given a lecture for walking off the course at a neighbouring club .Now,I know it wasn’t the best thing to do but there’s no rule against it and I have apologised to my playing partner and made sure she can join the group behind us ..This woman has ganged up on me with another lady to give me a lecture in the middle of the golf club lounge with everybody turning their heads to see what’s going on .and the only reason she has done it is because is on a power trip . She thinks she is the centre of the universe now and she can treat people like dirt .At the end of the day we are all members and we pay the same fee , no one is above everyone else .
Any similar experiences ?What should I do ? I was so angry that I didn’t have any reaction at all .

Flatstic, maybe you should have read my question first. It wasn't a match and I wasn't representing the club and no matter what I did, the whole thing has been dealt with wrongly .We all pay the same membership fee and no one is above another .I think the issue I was trying to bring up is the bitchiness and backstabbing going in the ladies golf .I've joined this club 3 years ago and since day one I've been treated like scum .Maybe I should mention that I'm foreign and that's got something to do with it .Actually , when you're spoken down to in a condescending manner like you're some stupid school kid , I would say that it definitely has got something to do with it . But I have to say that I am extremely disappointed by the atmosphere in most of the golf clubs and although I love the game and I will never stop playing ,I feel as I have to constantly watch my back and keep myself to myself .I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience with the ladies at their home club

I play as part of a golf society, Very recently I won our end of season trophy which is played in the honour of another member who died.

I shot 39 points off a 16 handicap. I didn’t actually play that well I just chipped in once and made 2 x 50 foot putts! On any other day those three incidents would not have happened and I would have gone round in level par (For my handicap) and not won.

When I returned to the clubhouse and handed in my card the society captain called me aside. Now we play an event once a month for 6 months of the year (I’m just explaining situation) around 18 months ago I won an event and got cut from 18 to 13, over the following 18 months I have complained that I am in fact around a 16 handicapper and that by playing off 13 I have no chance of winning, eventually the captain relented 3 months ago and put me up to 16.

Low and Behold he started to claim that he knew that I was really a 13 handicapper and that I had deliberately played badly over the last 18 months to get a higher handicap so I could win this event!!!

This argument took place in private, however I was so enraged I basically walked into the main lounge and gavce the following speech

“Guys, its been a pleasure to play golf with you over the last two years, unfortunatly Trevor here is convinced that I have cheated to get my name on the trophy, I therefore am refusing to accept the trophy, I would like the prize money to be awarded to a charity organisation that deals with Cancer, I will also be leaving this society until Trevor either apologises or Leaves. Thank You and Goodnight”

I got a round of applause and basically this trevor was threatened with being kicked out unless he apologised.

Stand up for what you believe in, and if the worst comes to the worst find another club, the one your at doesn’t sound very nice anyway.

Good Luck

I do not think your giving us all the facts why and how did you terminate the round was your partner upset by your action .If not then you should have given the captain a sharp riposte. was it a match you were in.
You still have not answered the fact that you and your club captain were playing at another club why it still seems that it was an organised event give the reason to us

I would write a letter to that captain as well as post a copy on the bulletin board stating the facts that you said of accommodating the woman with players following you. I would also remind her that being Captain doesn’t obligate her to be rude. If there was a disagreement in the manner in which the walkoff happened she should have consulted you rather than making the case before other members before all the facts were known.

Sounds like you embarrased your club by walking off the course in the middle of a match which showed poor sportsmanship. Your club captain was probably correct in dressing you down, Golf requires etiquette and you breached it.

Doesn’t matter what happened as in any walk of life there is never any need to talk down to people. as someone else said i would post a note on the board.we’ve all been frustrated during a round and whilst i wouldn’t do it if you want to walk off thats totally up to you (and your playing partner). some people need to remember its a game and open to everyone. i understand the need to behave sensibly on the course but some take it too serious. I play for fun and as long as i’m not annoying anyone else i’ll do what i want including walking off if i feel like it. tell the bitch to take a chill pill

Ok, maybe it was not the right thing to do, but, you are a grown woman i assume. you pay your dues, and if you are not in a formal match where you are part of a team…. they can kiss you tail or just say you are not longer part of the group, but have no right to put you down at all!

The person to blame is the is the husband, as he should know the golf course is no place for a woman
