Is there much difference between petite ladies, and junior golf clubs?

I’m looking for some clubs for my girlfriend, who is 5′ 1" (155cm) tall.
There don’t seem to be that many petite ladies clubs around, but there is a lot more choice for juniors. 11-13 year olds’ clubs seem to be around the same size. would they be ok? What are the differences please?… other than colour etc.

It’s probably correct to assume that a junior club will have a shaft flex that will be too weak for her strength. I’m 4’11" and use a standard womens length club. As a beginner she’ll do fine, choking up a bit will just give her a bit more control.

Take her to the store and let her hold them. That is the only way you will know. I use men’s clubs because I have long arms, but I’m only 5’5” so you cant go by her height.

Don’t do her a disservice by buying her "off the rack" clubs. It’s WAY more likely that anything you buy her will not fit her body type and swing mechanics. Even if they’re "petite"… there’s no standard when it comes to that term (or for "junior", senior, shaft flex, club length, etc., etc. either).

Take her to a club fitter/builder. S/He can determine what length, lofts, shaft flex, grip size, total weight and swing weight is best for her. Tell him your budget, and I bet they can still put her into a set of clubs that will help increase her enjoyment. That’s what you’re after… if she’s constantly fighting her equipment (possibly thinking she’s the reason for the issue) her enjoyment will dwindle, which will make it hard for her. And you.

Unless your girlfriend is an experienced golfer fitting will be a waste of money and time. I think this green la guy is a club fitter for a clone company, he pushes fitting and cheap clubs alot. The length of the club is not measured to height its measured from wrist to floor, shes probably a standard length like dixie at 4’11.
